How to Add Text in CapCut – Custom Text, Text Effects, Text Templates & Auto Subtitles

CapCut is a powerful video editing app and software where you can create next-level videos, edit your own or client projects, and even generate great revenue from your skills.

This is Article 3, where you will learn how to add text to your videos in CapCut and make them even more engaging.

1. Open a New Project in CapCut

  • Open CapCut.
  • Click New Project.
  • Click Import and select the file you want to add text to.
  • Drag the imported clip to the timeline.

2. How To Add Text in Capcut? 

  • At the top of the timeline, next to “Media,” click Text.

  • You will see these options:

  1. Custom Text
  2. Text Effects
  3. Text Templates
  4. AI Text & AI Subtitles


3. How To Add Custom Text in Capcut

  • Click Add Text.

  • A panel will appear on the right side:

  1. Type your text (e.g., Welcome to my channel).
  2. Change font style.
  3. Adjust text size.
  4. Align text (left, center, right).
  5. Choose from different style variations.
  6. Add shadow, transparency, and outlines.

4. How To Add Text Effects in Capcut?

  • Below the Custom Text section, click Text Effects.
  • These are ready-made styles with:

  1. Color combinations
  2. Shadows
  3. Stroke/borders
  4. Glow effects
  5. Simply drag and drop to apply instantly.

5. How To Add Text Animations in Capcut?

  • Select your text layer in the timeline.
  • On the right panel, click Animation.

  • You’ll see three animation types:

  1. In Animation – Appears at the start of the clip.
  2. Out Animation – Plays when the clip ends.
  3. Loop Animation – Runs continuously for the entire clip.


6. How To Use Text Templates in Capcut

  • Text Templates are pre-designed styles that include:

  1. Built-in animations
  2. Font styling
  3. Color effects

  • Drag and drop the template, replace the text, and adjust size as needed.


 7. Auto Subtitles Feature

  • This is an AI feature that automatically generates subtitles for your video.
  • Simply select the language and CapCut will create subtitles for the entire video.
